Burns Lake Classic Cars

Classic Car Enthusiasts of the Lakes District

2014 BLCC Plans

There are always a number of car shows and other events in our northwestern BC regional, although most of them are a bit of a drive away.

This year, a few people are considering the Bear Lake show at the beginning of May (May 10th if memory serves me - check for sure at www.autoeventlist.com) - Bear Lake is on the route to Mackenzie, about 1/2 hour north of Prince George.

There are about four of us considering going to the Langley Loafers "Old Time Drags" which are held at Ashcroft every year.  Cache Creek hosts a Show & Shine every year to sort of kick off the festivities so we are looking forward to that, plus we are only a short trip (80 km or so) from Kamloops.  Should be fun, although it means we will miss the Hooterville Hoot this year!

I imagine though that some of our other BLCC members will attend at Vanderhoof if they can't swing the trip to Cache Creek.

Our Burns Lake Show & Shine has moved to July 6th and we are praying for better weather this year (2013 was the worst we've ever seen, though it did clear up for the poker run in the afternoon and the barbecue, thank goodness!).

Fraser Lake is also hosting a small show and shine on July 13th in conjunction with their Music Festival.  I hear White Swan Park is a great venue and we are looking forward to this show!

Randy and Kristi are hauling the Nova south to Vancouver Island for a whirlwind tour late July and early August, with a Cruise and a Show in Courtenay, then events in Coombs and Parksville, Comox, Port Alberni and possible Mill Bay as well.  All that in the space of three weekends!!  Randy will be back in time to attend the Dinner Cruise to Takysie Lake on August 12.

Hixon and Houston are unfortunately being held on the same date (August 16) - we really should support the new Houston show but had planned to attend Hixon.  Time will tell which way we end up going...

We are doing Thursday night cruises again this year (check out the link to the Cruisin' poster!) and they have become extremely popular.

First Show & Shine of 2013 - Vanderhoof's Hooterville Hoot!

A bunch of cars (and people!) headed out early from Burns Lake to attend the 29th Annual Hooterville Hoot and I think everyone enjoyed themselves - the weather was certainly perfect for the first Show & Shine of the year up our way!

We are doing Thursday night cruises - so far we have been to Dad's Restaurant, Topley's Country Grill, and Pan Handle.  Coming up is Wagon Wheel, Mulvaney's and then A & W the week after the Prince George Show & Shine.

The Burns Lake Show & Shine is set for Sunday, July 14th, from 10 am to 1 pm, followed by a Poker Run and barbecue.  These events are entirely coordinated by volunteers and sponsors - please say thanks to them if you are in their business, shop or store!

New this year will be music! We are also - once again - changing the direction we park the cars... always searching for the best way! This year they will be facing away from the lake, which should give an excellent backdrop for photos... which brings us to more news - we have a new photographer this year! (thank you H.L.!)

April 2013 update

The planning session was held April 7th - we have some very enthusiastic car guys and gals ready to pitch in and get things done!

We are once again planning to do Thursday night cruises once the streets havebeen cleaned off (and it stops snowing!). There will be some dinner cruises too - stay tuned for dates! And if you have a suggestion for a place to travel to for dinner, let us know...

The Show & Shine drops to 3 hours in length so we can get the out of towners home a little sooner. We will be having a Poker Ride again this year, and the barbecue should be awesome as always.

Planning for 2013...

The first Show & Shine planning session is set for April - we are looking forward to getting some assistance from other the car enthusiasts to make this event such a good one!

Winter 2012-2013

Well, with two feet of snow in the backyard, the Chevelle still in the bodyshop, and the Nova still waiting for some work, it is weird to be thinking about the 2013 car season already!

Fortunately, Lee Harrison keeps us on our toes with the Auto Event List (http://www.autoeventlist.com/) as he makes sure we have our dates in by Dec 1st. Thanks Lee for this very comprehensive list of auto events!!!

And yes, we have confirmed our Burns Lake Show & Shine date to be July 14 - that's a Sunday; be sure to mark your calendars! The Poker Run was a hit and sure to be happening again... and the barbecue is always very popular (I promise, we will get more salads ready this time!).

Please stay tuned to the website into the spring as we head into the 2013 season - we'll keep you posted with the plans! In the meantime, feel free to join the site, or drop us an email at [email protected]

Pics and news of the Chevelle and the Nova are still to come if we can ever get the internet issues at home sorted out... need a new computer I think... but I CAN say that we both got car parts for Christmas!!
